Data quality and its management |
|
|
The data quality plays an increasing role in today's information age. The data quality management is the appropriate medium to bear the challenges coming with the permanently growing amount of data.
- For financial institutions, the fulfilment of regulatory specifications is essential (BASEL II, BaFin, Sarbanes-Oxley Act,I FRS, Solvency II, GroMiKV, KWG)
- Growing amounts of data are accompanied by a growing effort for the guarantee of the data quality - the cost-push increases
- Data and the information contained in it are the basis for deriving strategic enterprise decisions; Quality defects in this environment can lead to fatal faults
Unlike the data quality assurance at which only the state of the data quality stated and faults found can be corrected we concentrate on the steering of the data quality at the data quality management. The quality is merely a measure, how much is the data suitable for the fulfilment of the enterprise specific requirements. Accordingly, the determination of the requirements is at first place at the data quality management. These requirements are made by different Stakholders and must be solid to each other.
In the context of the requirement analysis and the concrete IT systems, the customer can look for suitable solutions to adapt the data quality to the weighted requirements continuously.
